1. What makes safety sticks work?
Two solutions are stored separately within each safetystick. One solution is stored in a thin capsule. A simple bend snaps the thin internal capsule causing the two solutions to mix and chemically react and result in the GLOW.
2. Are the sticks safe?
Safety sticks are not a source of heat, flame or sparks and are completely safe for everyday use including in confined space and in areas which contain combustible mixtures of gases of liquids where other light sources would pose as an explosive or fire hazard.
3. Are Safety sticks toxic?
NO Tests conducted to determine whether our substances are toxic have revealed that they are not highly toxic, corrosive, irritant or hazardous.
4. How do you turn safety sticks off?
Once activated safety sticks cannot be shut off.
5. How long do safety sticks last?
Once activated safetysticks will last from 5 minutes up to 12 hours depending on the size and type of stick used.
6. How long can I keep safety sticks?
As long as the safetysticks have not been damaged or removed from its original packaging, the safetystick should have a shelf life of two to four years, depending on the style.
7. Can I remove the foil cover?
Due to the sensitivity to direct light and humidity safety sticks are wrapped in an airtight outer foil wrapper. Should the wrapper be opened or damaged and the stick not used within a few days the light emission will be reduced. If the safety stick is left for a longer period of time it is possible for it to become totally deactivated.
8. What if the safetystick is accidentally ruptured?
Since the chemicals contained within the safetystick are non-toxic they will not cause injury to the skin or eyes. However, there may be some temporary discomfort similar to that of getting soap in ones eye if direct contact is made. If in the unlikely event of direct contact with the eyes, flush the area with water. Some staining can occur on some fabrics but should be removable through dry cleaning.
9. Are safetysticks waterproof?
Safety sticks are completely waterproof and may be used in complete safety in the rain or emersed under water.
10. Can safetysticks be affected by temperature?
Safety sticks give off maximum light emission when used in temperatures ranging from 60 degrees to 80 degrees. If the temperature is higher the stick will glow brighter but for a slightly shorter period of time. If the temperature is lower the light will be slightly less intense but can glow for slightly longer.
11. How do safety sticks compare to other light sources?
Safetysticks V’s Candles
Safetysticks are not a source of fire and are quickly and cleanly activated without the use of matches or other sources, they will not blow out, drip, will work in the rain and produces a much greater volume of light.
Safetysticks V’s Torch (Flashlight)
Safetysticks weigh considerably less, are easier to store and carry, can provide a much better 360 degree area of light, work under water, will not corrode, need no form of power such as batteries and will resist breaking even under extraordinary conditions.
